• How can you tell when to pick Apples? Wait until the stalks start to turn brown and look dry. While they are green and sappy they are still feeding the apple even though the growth is slowing down. Sample them now to be on the safe side.
   
• If your Anna Apple is a shy bearer, strip the leaves in winter.
